The church of Laodicea
(3:14) And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God: (15) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (16) So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth.
Laodicea means: "a tried or judged people," or "justice for the people."
The church upon whom the hour of trial is coming; the one that is to be weighed in the balance and found wanting; the generation who are to stumble, as did the generation of Jews, who saw the first advent. HG98:5
But though our Lord does not preserved the Laodicean stage of his saints from going into the trouble, we may be sure that those who kept the word of his patience they had his keeping power, as promised to the Laodicean saints: "I stand at the door and knock; whoever hears my voice and opens to me I will come in and sup with him and he with me." This was the special reward of those who were running the race with patient endurance in the present time, in the Laodicean period; while it was not our privilege to escape the hour of temptation, it was our privilege to have a counter-balancing special blessing as a result of living in the time of our Lord's parousia (presence).
The last or Laodicean stage of the great nominal gospel church of wheat and tares. She is upbraided for her lukewarmness, pride, spiritual poverty, blindness and nakedness, and counseled to forsake quickly her evil ways before it is too late. But the Lord knew that only a few would hearken to the warning and call; and so the promise of reward is given, not to the whole mass of those addressed, but to the few who still have an ear for the truth, and who overcome the general disposition and spirit of Babylon. D41
We find that the date 1874 is also in harmony with the prophecy of Daniel (12:1), which fixes the advent of "Michael" in the "Time of the End" – that is, somewhere between 1799 and 1914 – and as the cause and precursor of the great time of trouble. When seventy-five years of this "Day of Preparation" had developed the proper conditions for the beginning of his great work, then the Master stepped upon the scene – quietly, "without outward show" – "in like manner" as he went away.
The remaining years of this Day will accomplish the setting up or establishment of his Kingdom in power and glory. C130
Neither hot nor cold, they incite disgust and are cast out as a hateful thing from being the mouthpiece of the Lord. To be a minister or priest in the nominal Church of to-day, one must bring with him a plentiful store of that which Paul despised and left behind, namely, human wisdom. (1 Cor. 1:17; 2:16)
The Message to the Laodicean stage of the Church pictures the nominal Church of today as our Lord sees her. In one sense she is not cold. She has much zeal, but not according to knowledge. (Isa. 26:16-18). She has organized her armies, developed her machinery and multiplied her stores; but yet the enemy does not fall before her. She claims that her principal object is to convert sinners, to bring forth spiritual children. R5993:5,6
A man who is wishy-washy, who does not know what he is doing, does not accomplish much of anything. The Lord says that he likes men to be either hot or cold. If we are determined to be servants of the heavenly Father, we are to recognize no other master.
The Spring of A.D. 1878 corresponds to the date at which our Lord assumed the office of King, rode on the ass, cleansed the temple of its money-changers, and gave up to desolation that nominal church or kingdom; and it marks the date when the nominal church systems were "spewed out" (Rev. 3:16), and from which time (A.D. 1878) they are not the mouthpieces of God, nor in any degree recognized by him. And the three and a half years following the Spring of A.D. 1878, which ended October, A.D. 1881, correspond to the three and a half years of continued favor to individual Jews in the last half of their seventieth week of favor. As in the type that date – three and a half years after the death of Christ – marked the end of all special favor to the Jew and the beginning of favor to the Gentiles, so we recognize A.D. 1881 as marking the close of the special favor to Gentiles. In years 132-135 took place the last Jewish uprising under the command of alleged messiah Simon Bar Kokhba's. Suppressing the revolt by Rome dispeled the last hopes of the Jews who ceased from now on to exist as the nation. Special peaceful initiatives of socialist block, pope and the Federation of Protestant Churches in years 1977-1980 were the prophetic counterpart of these events in Christianity. The block of ten countries, being organized into union in COMECON established the exact co-operation with the Roman Catholic church (“the man of sin, the son of perdition”), which lasted to characteristic events in Poland in years 1980/81. Thus had been fulfilled vision of the Revelation about the red ten-horned papal beast whose God allowed on the short-lived triumph 42 months (Rev. 13:5). The co-operation broke up in spring 1981, according to prophetic announcement. Shots of the assassin, Ali Agca confirmed that fact additionally. The chronological time of battle of Armageddon (anarchy) has began.
Close co-operation of socialist powers with churches was inaugurated in autumn 1977 with the celebration of 60 anniversary of October Revolution. In connection with that event to the capital of atheism had arrived the Federation of Protestant Churches. The Federation was pictured in the Revelation as "the image of the beast," that is organization disciplined and mobilized to the uniform political acting in the likeness of Catholic church. The Federation of Protestant Churches (the image of the beast) gave the full approval for the peaceful initiatives of Kremlin. The image "spoke” with political voice (Rev. 13:15). Thus it showed Protestants the way - the false direction of the linking of the close co-operation with the secular powers. In such a way this system became itself for them false messiah similarly as that of Jews, Bar Kokhba. Protestant Denominations gained from this time the huge favour of socialist powers. Before this time, the mission of the truth warned God's people to the danger of worshiping the this-horned beast and the image of the beast. The mission has been showed in the Scripture by "prophesying two witnesses,” the smiting of Jordan river by Elijah and other pictures.

Art lukewarm … Indifferent in the service of the Lord; Christians in name only and not heart-devoted followers of the Lord. Some of God's children get cold and listless – the condition of which the Master declares his abhorrence. All persecution has ceased and the denominations are entertained by scholarly dissertations, fine oratory and flowery essays that lull the people to soft repose, and a general condition of apathy. The most undesirable and most dangerous condition. Neither for sin nor against sin. Failures in every sense of the word. God wants positive characters and others will not be approved or accepted. Those who develop positive characters are overcomers. The undecided are far from having the spirit of the Kingdom class. Some of the Lord's servants in mystic Babylon are handicapped by reason of having received honors and robes, and are more or less inclined to hide and cover the message now due. Whoever is not rendering some service to our King in the present time has at the most the "lukewarm" love that is offensive to the Master. The missionary zeal of the church of Philadelphia, which at one time inflamed the whole mass of reformed Christianity, subsided into lukewarmness – phariseeism – the happy medium between impiety and pietism.
Neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee ... God is calling his people out of Babylon. Babylon is no longer the Lord's mouthpiece, but already spewed out of his mouth. R5911:6; R2554:4

Wholly cast Laodicea into divine disfavor with scorn. R1295:4*
The Lord will not fight against Laodicea as against Pergamos and Thyatira. He will not judge her like Sardis; but he will wholly cast her off with scorn, and leave her to her wallowing in the mire. R1295:4*
Out of my mouth … Rejected from being any longer the Lord's medium in communicating his message to the world. NS44:1
She has been his mouthpiece, and through her he has spoken to the world, but it shall be no longer. R177:2
God has raised up a new mouthpiece. He sheds increasing light to a little flock who are willing to receive it and spread it abroad without fear. R505:4*
All who would be the mouthpieces of the Lord, and speak forth his Word, should do so without stipulation of compensation. R2497:6
(17) Because thou sayest, I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art the wretched one and miserable and poor and blind and naked:
I am rich ... They think they are rich in a spiritual sense. This is our Lord's charge against the present state of the church, so rich in earthly advantages, so rich in spiritual privileges, so self-satisfied. HG24:3; R4417:4
I am rich ... Spiritual as well as temporal, in their own estimation. Never was there so much wealth invested in church buildings, equipments, choirs and ministers' salaries. R1440:6; R1911:3
"I am rich" – I have all the spiritual light that exists in the world. I have gotten riches; have still more enriched myself; have much goods laid up for many years. All others are too poor to add to my store. I have all that is worth having, and need no more. "I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall in nowise see mourning." Of course she cannot recognize her own picture, she is "blind." "And knowest not that thou art the wretched one," etc. Just as the Jewish house fell, because they knew not the time of their visitation (Luke 19:44) so, must their counterpart of this dispensation. The visitation (presence) of the Lord is as a stone of stumbling and rock of offence to both the houses of Israel (Isa. 8:14; Heb. 3:5-6). The fleshly house failed to recognize his presence in the flesh; the spiritual house refuse to acknowledge his presence in a spiritual body. Just as he could be seen by the eye of flesh in his first visitation, so he must be recognized in this only by the eyes of our understanding – the only spiritual eyesight we now possess. When we are made like him, bye and bye we shall see him as he is.
While the nominal Church is still seemingly in power, while the old glory still hangs about her, while it is still respectable and honorable to be a church member (it will not be so long, in the eyes of many), the little flock of truth-seekers are despised and rejected.
They look with pride upon their numbers, and count them by millions; Laodiceans look upon their material prosperity, and their numbers of wealthy people and count their money and donations by millions. Having trust in armies, and navies, soldiers and guns, aeroplanes and dynamite. R2763:1, 4811:5
Nominal Christendom has been disposed to boast of its riches in scholarship, property, intelligence, influence, and high moral standing. R4314:4
The one thing it has coveted is the healing power, and now it is grasping this, to the increase of its pride and boastfulness; bringing itself more fully under the powers of darkness. R4314:4
Healing power. Perhaps there was never a time in the world's history when humanity manifested more desire for physical healing than today. Nor can we blame the poor, groaning creation for desiring relief. What we do claim is that the Truth and rationality connected with these systems are the sugar-coating which covers the poison. The poison connected with all of them is the poison of the Adversary, the power of the fallen angels exercised in its most subtle form, namely, mental suggestion – hypnotism. This rational sugar-coating consists in the extending of kindly sympathy to the bereaved: in the recognition of the fact that fear is one of the most potent causes of human trouble and that faith in the Lord, or in a devil, for that matter, has the effect of resting the mind, relieving the nervous tension, and thus facilitating the eradication of pain.
These various cures for physical ailments now being promoted throughout Christendom are a great and a serious danger. These are none such miracles as were wrought by our Lord and his apostles. Many of those identified with the various schemes of mind healing, faith healing, hypnotism, etc., are well-meaning, thoroughly conscientious; and thoroughly deluded. Their cures are not by divine power, but by that of the Adversary, whom the Lord is permitting to use these means of attracting the Lord's people and the world away from the spiritual things and their necessity; also from the spiritual healing.
As Christian Science and Mind Cure pervert reason and thus destroy the power of reasoning logically, so Hypnotism undermines the will, weakens it, and prepares the way for further intrusions from the fallen spirits. To our understanding, Christendom is thus permitting an undermining of faith and will power, and is preparing for the great day of trouble with which this age will in a few years close – a trouble which will result largely from the intrusion of the evil spirits into human affairs, through the entanglement of human wills, weakened by hypnotism. We warn all to be on guard against these modern miracle-workers and we call attention to the fact that their operation is entirely different from anything recorded in the Scriptures.
There is a reason for the miracles wrought by our Lord and his disciples. They were for the establishment of the Church – as a testimony to the Lord. Without them Christianity would not have grown as rapidly as it did. These miracles ceased as the Church secured an established footing. The miraculous gifts of the spirit, healing, etc., were supplanted by the spiritual gifts, or fruitage of holy living. As the Apostle declares, Whether there be miraculous tongues, they shall cease, and so with all the other gifts, including healing.
The physical healing was supplanted by the spiritual healing. Thus our Lord's words were fulfilled, "Greater works than these shall ye do, because I go to my Father."
While the nominal church is still seemingly in power, while the old glory still hangs about her; while it is still honorable and respectable to be a church member. R5993:6
The church of this present century has done many wonderful things – through Bible societies they have scattered the Word of God far and wide; but the earnest personal piety of the reformers has almost disappeared. HG98:5
Have need of nothing ... I have all the truth, I am Orthodox, Evangelical, I need nothing more. R718:5
In their own estimation, they are whole and need no physician. R1440:6
Not so much the vast moneyed wealth and the well organized machinery of the Church, as their satisfied feeling that they have truth enough; and that the first principles of the gospel of Christ are sufficient. HG98:6
Babylon boasts of fine churches, high steeples, eloquent preachers, wealthy members, splendid music, large salaries and worldly popularity. R177:2
And knowest not ... She is not aware of her true condition. R718:5
Their fear of God is not the result of the study of his Word, but is taught by the precept of men. Alas, how pitiable this condition! Yet they are ignorant of it. R589:2
Thou art wretched … Her misery and wretchedness is caused by her blindness and unnatural alliance with the world by which she is being overcome. R718:4
Had the Reformation work been continued, Zion would not now be in her present deplorable condition. R183:5
And poor … She is poor, in that she has so little of the Master's spirit, so little of the Truth and the spirit of the Truth. The only riches which God can recognize are those which he promised to, and bestows upon his people in this present time. Laodicea is blind, in that the god of this world hath blinded her perceptions of God's character and plan and is leading her further and further away from confidence in his Word, under the guidance of her chosen and well-paid lords and masters, the clergy, who under the name of Higher Criticism and Evolution are rapidly taking away from her every good possession and thing which would be estimable in the sight of the Lord, and who are thus denuding her, making her naked, taking from her the robe of Christ's righteousness, and leading her to trust, not in the precious blood of the redemption, the death of the Redeemer, but to trust in an evolutionary process which needs no Savior, which denies an atonement for sin, yea, denies that there is, or has been any sin to make atonement for; and claims, on the contrary that humanity has ground for pride in its own progress, which will be quite sufficient eventually to bring to them every desired blessing, without any Savior and without his Kingdom, which God has promised as the hope of the groaning creation. (Rom. 8:19-23)
Outwardly, the church is rich; spiritually she is poor. R4778:2
Even though she spends millions annually upon her own literature and institutions. R1593:5
They are sick, full of wounds, and bruises and putrefying sores. R1440:6
Possessing little of the truth and the spirit of the truth. R2763:2
"My people perish for lack of knowledge," says the Lord. Yet the leaders of all denominations teach them to boast. R4613:3
And blind … "Cannot see afar off." (2 Pet. 1:9.) Cannot see the length and breadth and height and depth of the divine plan. Cannot see the high calling of the Church or restitution for the world. R2297:1

Nearly all of the nominal churches are full of the blind. They do not realize their condition nor come to the Master to receive sight. R2730:3
And naked ... The chief ones have lost faith in the ransom, the only covering of our nakedness which the filthy rags of our own righteousness will not cover. R2297:2

Having scanty garments that scarce hide the shame of their nakedness. R591:3*
(18) I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayest become rich; and white garments, that thou mayest clothe thyself, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness be not made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see. (19) As many as I love, I reprove and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Laodicea is indeed counseled to buy the true gold, the true riches of the Lord, and to use eye-salve that she may see, and to put on the garment of Christ's righteousness, that she may not be put to shame; but we have no intimation in the Scripture that she will give any heed to this counsel; on the contrary, the intimation is that more and more she will become a Babel of confusion, and that she will go down with the political and financial systems of this present age, in the great time of trouble with which this age will terminate, and which will fit and prepare mankind for the Kingdom of God's dear Son, and its reign of righteousness.
The gold that is needed is the wisdom that cometh from above; the white raiment, the righteousness of Christ; the eye-salve, the Spirits help in the understanding of the Word. These will stand the fires, and enable those who have them to stand before the Son of man.
Nominal church does not heed the counsel of the Lord to buy of Him (at cost of self-sacrifice) gold tried in the fire (the true riches, the heavenly riches, "the divine nature"), and white raiment (the robe of Christ's imputed righteousness, which so many are now discarding, to appear before God in their own unrighteousness), and to anoint her eyes with eyesalve (complete consecration and submission to the divine will as expressed in the Scriptures), that she might see and be healed. D42
Here our Lord has come to the second house of Israel, and he finds it as he found the fleshly house, nominally pious, compassing sea and land to make a proselyte, yet, as described in his own words, neither cold nor hot, and ready to be spewed out of his mouth; – knowing not that they are "wretched and pitiable – even poor and blind and naked." (Rev. 3:16,17.)
Poor in that they lack the true riches of divine grace, the gold of the divine nature and the precious hopes and promises associated therewith. Blind, in that they cannot see afar off, cannot see the length and breadth and height and depth of the divine plan revealed in God's Word, cannot see either the high-calling of the Church, with the blessed provisions of restitution for the world of mankind in general. Naked, in that their chief ones have already lost faith in the ransom, the only covering of our nakedness (which the filthy rags of our own righteousness will not cover), and in that the people are following the examples and precepts of their leaders in discarding the precious robe of Christ's righteousness – the only "wedding garment." Surely, this is a pitiable condition, and to many of themselves a miserable one. R2297
(20) Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Unknown to the Laodicean Church, the Lord has returned. He stands at the door. He could not do this if he were not present. He has not been always there as some think. To Sardis he said, "I will come"; to Philadelphia, "I come quickly"; to Laodicea, it is rap, rap, rap. Awake; let me come in. Do they hear? Solomons Song 5:3, gives the answer us in ever increasing brightness? It is because the Master has come in, and has girded himself, and made us sit down, and has himself served us "If any man hear my voice." There is nothing here said about being deaf.
If they had been awake they would surely have heard. Jesus clearly foretold that he would come as a thief, but did not tell them the hour. His orders were simply, "Watch." They failed, and fell.
"If the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through." He slept on guard.
While the nominal church is still seemingly in power, while the old glory still hangs about her, while it is still respectable and honorable to be a church member, the Little Flock of Truth-seekers are despised and rejected.
At the turn of the 6th and 7th millennium (1874-1914) in USA, came into being the prophetic movement being based on the understanding of the object, the manner and time of the second invisible presence of Jesus Christ. Our Lord compared his second advent to the symbolic thousand-years-long day, which has its dawn and the moment of sun's appearing. The Lord used also as prophetic picture the Lot's history. Lot escaped from Sodom at dawn, and only then, when he was safe, the sun rose and happened catastrophe of that city.
These two phase of our Lord's presence are showing Apostles' prophetic announcements: "the day dawn" (2 Pet. 1:19), "the manifestation of his coming" (gr. tee epiphaneia tees parousias autou; 2 Thess. 2:8).
This is the main trends of our Lord's activity in period from dawn his parousias to epiphaneia his parousias:
(1) Saints of Most High God. In the first stage of the Lord's presence (to moment of epiphaneia – 1981), took place the gathering together by the Truth of the last members of the Church (completing number of 144 000) and taking them from the earth. The light of the second presence of Christ being cast on the systems of Christianity, it unmasked them as "Babylon the great, a habitation of demons and a haunt of every unclean spirit..." (Rev. 18:2). God's people was ordered to leave this system. The appeal to abandonment of Babylon did not limit itself to that from before over hundred years, but it was still relevant. Just before Epipfaneia a voice of call was renewed. This repeating took place in Poland after opening of seventh seal in the years 1967(1969)-1981.
(2) Israel according to the flesh. So-called "double" (Isa. 40:2; Jer. 16:18) was, at the dawn of Christ's second presence (1878), the turning point in history of both houses of Israel. Nominal spiritual Israel was rejected then, whereas fleshly Israel began to come back to God's favour. In culminant point of the process of returning favour God will make the New Covenant with Israel. (Jer. 31:31.) Two stages of this process are showed in prophecy of Ezechiel. The first stage, the prophesying of today's "Ezechiel," being directed to "dry bones" (37:1-8), it had been fulfilled during prophetic movement of Students Bible in USA, at the dawn of our Lord presence. Natural Israelites (dry bones) were all the time accompanied with that prophesying until the coming into being their independent state (1948). The second prophesying of "Ezechiel,” being directed to the "spirit" (37:9), took place in Poland as the prophetic movement of the years 1967-1981. Then there was that a calling the spirit from four winds. There it lain at the root of that movement the understanding, between others, that the High Calling will end in 1977 and the manifestation of the our Lord's presence will take place in 1980/81. The year 1977 pointed out at the time of unleashing of the four winds (Rev. 7:1), that is symbolic whirlwind, leading to the great tribulation, world-wide anarchy. This date of the unleashing of these winds is common for both true spiritual Israel and fleshly Israel. Since then, the last members of the true Church are being taken up to heaven, whereas natural Israelites are entering more and more crucial oppression to receive ultimately the "spirit" or "spirit of of grace and of supplication" (Zach. 12:10).
(3) The Lord’s army. The opening by the Lamb of seventh seal (Rev. 8:1) confirmed ultimately teaching of the Book of Revelation, that in his second presence our Lord has used of zeal of communist propagators and their ideology as His army in the aim of overthrowing of empire of prince of this word, Satan, and entire apostate Christianity – main supporter of his power.
It is not at the door of the siner’s heart the Lord stands knocking, but at the heartts of the true Israelites. R177:4
His second presence in glory and power, but invisible to men. SM499:4
And knock ... The knock, or proclamation of the Lord's presence, as indicated by the Old Testament prophecies, has been given since 1874 and is still being given. The knock of the parable might appropriately be but for a few seconds, but the fulfilment would properly cover a period of years.
"And be ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their Lord, that when he cometh and knocketh the may open unto him immediately." (Luke 12:36) R3355:2
By oral or printed evidence that the time prophecies are fulfilled. The servants are not to know in advance, but are to know at the time of arrival, and that without seeing. R3354:6
The Lord is speaking now to some of his faithful ones through his Word which tells us of his presence, through the signs which mark the incoming of the new dispensation. R4092:4
Unhheeded by the self-conscious, but really blind and miserable Laodicea. R1577:6
If any man ... This serving by the Master should be understood to be an individual work and not merely a collective service and feast. R3355:2
The man who never hears the "knock" is evidently not counted worthy to hear it. But those who hear are just as evidently not compelled to respond and to accept the present, knocking King. R2978:4
Hear my voice ... Knock. The prophecies which announce him as present. R2983:5; R177:4

Blessed are our eyes, that now they see, our ears that now they hear, that we may know Messiah. R5075:5
And open the door … Open his heart and receive the things in a consecrated attitude of mind. R5566:1
Our Lord indicated that at his Second Coming all his servants who would be in the right condition of heart would hear his knock; and that if they would open to Him immediately, He would come in and sup with them. What does this statement signify? It means that his knock showed that the time for the great Representative of God – our glorified Lord – to be here had come; and that all who were ready would hear that knock, the prophetic knock, calling attention to the prophetic testimony that thenceforth we could look forward to Messiah's beginning his Parousia, his harvest work, at once with all denominations.
When the year 1874 came, was everything accomplished within twenty-four hours? Surely not! Did everybody awake at the same minute? Have they not been getting awake all through the harvest time? And some of us have not been awake very long. Some of us did not hear the knock when first our Master returned; but just as soon as we did hear and opened our hearts, we got the blessing; for we were in the proper attitude of heart to receive.
What has occurred during this time? We have had a Harvest period, and the work of the Harvest has been going on silently, gradually. The Lord has been judging amongst his people, just as He said He would. He said that He would call his own servants first and reckon with them. Of course, none of this was from anything that we saw with our eyes, but from an unfolding of God's word.
I will come in … The Lord will gird himself as a servant and come forth and serve. R5566:1
Sup with him … The feast of "meat in due season," "things new and old," which the Master promised to provide at that time. (Luke 12:42; Matt. 13:52) R2978:5

(21) He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne. (22) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
Laodicea is interpreted to mean a tried, or judged people. The description shows us that they were tried and found wanting. If we understand Christ's meaning in this message, it is sent particularly to those who profess his name, but deny the Truth which He himself here presents. Let those who read this special message do so with special care.
Today’s we live in crucial moment of history of the world, when Satan's kingdom is being overthrown in anarchy. He made an gigantic effort to support it kingdom by many wonderful works, done both by his unknowing as well as his wilful agents, falsely and in the name of Christ. These various errors, "doctrines of demons," gathered out of God's Kingdom "all that offend, and them which do iniquity" (and these constitute the great mass); while the faithful, who was to receive the Kingdom and be joint-heirs with Christ in his great Messianic Reign were standing alone. Now this separation is complete and accomplished – the fire of the great Time of Trouble is making general havoc of present arrangements – social, financial, political, ecclesiastical. All errors and falsehoods in religion will go down forever.
The Lord's faithful Little Flock, having received immortality and the Divine nature, seated with Christ in his throne. As soon as stormy clouds of grat tribulation are over they "shall shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father." For a thousand years they shall reign over the world, for the scattering of all ignorance and blindness and the uplifting of all the families of the earth, the living and the dead. R5802
