Our Lord said the world will not see him more, that is why the vision can have the exclusively symbolic character. (John 14:19.) The second Woe   (12) The first Woe is past: behold, there come yet two Woes hereafter. Woe, Woe, Woe   (8:13) And I saw, and I heard an eagle, flying in mid heaven, saying with a great voice, Woe, woe, woe, for them that dwell on the earth, by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, who are yet to sound. God's people, staying in the background of occurring historical events heading to a critical moment inevitably, they fulfilled their mission as the long-sighted "eagle," flying in the middle of the ecclesiastical heaven. (Luke 17:37). The blowing the trumpet seven angels   (8:6) And the seven angels that had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.         Blowing the trumpet seven angels represents the development of the revolutionary movement – the bolshevism. (Rev. 8:2.) Four first of blowing the trumpet portray organization, planning, manifestation and the growth of the revolutionary movement. It was the preparation of the revolutionary masses with the propaganda of four Congresses of the RSDLP to attack on the bastions of Christianity as soon as the Times of the Pagans are expired (1914). Half-an-hour's silence in heaven   (1) And when he opened the seventh seal, there followed a silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. In the general meaning, the present symbolic heaven represents the ecclesiastical power of the nominal church. That heaven is already being removed and replaced through the third heaven of elevated Christ, Head and Body. During the Gospel Age in this religious heaven, among nominal believers were also present true people of God. "God (…) raised us up with him [Christ Jesus], and made us to sit with him in the heavenly [places]." (Eph. 2:4-6.) Two classes of the Church of the Firstborn   Seventh thousand of the years of the history of the world is the period of the second invisible presence of Christ (gr. parousia), intended for the work of the restitution of the mankind. Parousia possesses two phases, preliminary part and principal part. FOUR RIDERS   Vision of the Ruler of universe in chapter 4 showed, round the throne, four all-seeing creatures, which represent God's four attributes: Justice, Power, Love and Wisdom. The man, who was created in God's image, and after his likeness, was equipped in the same attributes in human sizes. A such unity of thoughts and feelings with his Creator provided him with peace and safety and let to joy fully with happiness of his existence. As result of transgression of our first parents, these all attributes began rapidly to degenerate. Not to this degree however they declined so that the man wouldn't felt the bitterly in his unfortunate situation. The breakthrough in such human misery took place then, when the due time came and God permitted not farther reign of blatant injustice caused with human selfishness. The Ransom of Jesus Christ the only rescue for the mankind   The human drama began in the Paradise, when first parents, in spite of knowledge of fatal results, violated the Divine prohibition and reached out for a forbidden fruit. In this way they brought the death sentence on themselves and their offspring. The punishment seems to be drastic, disproportionately high to the transgression. We have to take however into consideration the absolute human perfection of our parents. We are only the shreds of the such intellect, the moral feeling and the physical beauty, which Adam and Eve fully possessed. God created Adam in his own image and the likeness, in a single act, and He described his work as "very good." The Scripture clearly declares that "Adam was not beguiled" (1 Tim. 2:14) therefore breaking the law by first man was deliberate act. John is being snatched away to the third heaven   The book of the Revelation is the fullest prophetic description of God's Kingdom on the earth established in so-called the Day of the Lord. The restoration of mankind to the lost paradise and harmony with God is the aim of millennial rules our Lord in his Day. Scripture teaches about three worlds. "The world to come" began with the second presence of Jesus Christ, named also the Day of the Lord. The church of Laodicea   (3:14) And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God: (15) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (16) So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth.       Laodicea means: "a tried or judged people," or "justice for the people." The church of Sardis   (1) And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and thou art dead. (2) Be thou watchful, and establish the things that remain, which were ready to die: for I have found no works of thine perfected before my God. (3) Remember therefore how thou hast received and didst hear; and keep [it], and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. The line of demarcation of the fourth and fifth church, to the Reformation, is not clearly drawn, the change from the one to the other being a gradual work. The letters to seven churches   The seven churches in Asia, to which John Apostle directed his letters, they represent seven periods of the development of Christ's Church. It is believed, among others, that these churches happened the addressees of letters because of the name of cities in which they were. They were localities of inferior meaning, but their names were meaningful and reflected the character of the experiences of every one from seven periods of Church during the Gospel age.     During these periods it lasted so-called High Calling, that is took place the choice of the Church of Christ, 144 000 members of his Bride. The participants of this calling were subjected to various trials, with the aim of development of the suitable character and the proving of their usefulness to the future service. That service will be work of the Restitution of mankind under rules of the Lord Christ. To balance the fiery character of these tests, letter to every period ends some promise connected with the future glory of the divine immortal nature. (1 Pet. 1:4.) The seventh seal is opened     Author of the series six volumes of the Studies in the Scripture, C.T. Russell, said in 1916 (Q645:3): "There are certain things in Revelation which I do not understand, and for this reason I do not write the Seventh Volume."   THE NINTH PLAGUE – A DARKNESS Exodus 10:20-29     "And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days; they saw not one another, neither rose any one from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings (...) But Jehovah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go. He that feared the word of Jehovah among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses. THE SIXTH PLAGUE – BOILS Exodus 9:9-12     "And Jehovah said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward heaven in the sight of Pharaoh. And it shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt. And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man and upon beast. And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians. THE THIRD PLAGUE – THE GNATS Exodus 8:16-19     "And Jehovah said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the earth, that is may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. And they did so; and Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and there were lice [gnats] upon man, and upon beast; all the dust of the earth became lice [gnats] throughout all the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice [gnats], but they could not: and there were lice [gnats] upon man, and upon beast. Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as Jehovah had spoken." INTRODUCTION   The whole history of the Old Testament, especially the history of Israel contains many events, feasts, ceremonies and special persons, which, under the supervision of Providence, have formed readable illustrations, figures, types and so-called shadows possessing their reference to the larger reality of the Gospel age and the Millennium age. For example, the Apostle Paul stated that our ancestor Adam is the type of the second Adam that is our Lord. (Rom. 5:14.) Adam and his wife Eve gave us the life (though they also it wasted), whereas his anti-type, the second Adam and the second Eve (the exalted Church), they will restore the whole human race back to the life. The Apostle explains also the Divine way of showing the future by the "special technique" of casting the shadow, calling the feasts and the sacrifices of the Law the shadows or types, not the reality (Heb. 10:1; Col. 2:17). INTRODUCTION   The run of ten Egyptian plagues in result of which the Israeli nation got the freedom, they are the splendid illustration of turbulent changes, which take place in the today's world with their joyful end, when whole mankind shall be delivered from the bondage of sin and death "into the liberty of the glory of the children of God." In the type, the plagues upon the Egyptians were preceded by three signs or testimonies, by which the Israelites were convinced that Moses has been sent by God and deliverance of them was at hand. What are the today's symbolic equivalents of those typical signs? Since sin entered the world and the people went their own ways, there began to grow lawlessness, which weakened universally the motivation for serving to God. MORAL AND SOCIAL REFORMS   The Law of the Lord which will then go forth from Mount Zion, the Kingdom, and be promulgated to all the people from Jerusalem, the world's New Capital, as the Word of the Lord by his "princes," will at once take hold of what are already recognized as "crying evils." Moral reforms will be instituted along all lines; financial, social and religious questions will all be recast in harmony with both Justice and Love. Judgment will be laid to the line, and righteousness to the plummet (Isa. 28:17); all of earth's affairs will be squared and plumbed with righteousness – and will be brought into strict conformity thereto. How much this will signify as regards the suppression of all lines of business which tempt humanity by alluring and seducing through the weaknesses of their fallen natures and the unbalance of mental and moral qualities! The distillery, the brewery, the saloon, the brothel, the poolroom, all time-killing and character-depraving businesses will be stopped; and their servants will be given something to do that will be beneficial to themselves and others. IMPORTANCE OF THE KINGDOM   The most momentous event of earth's history is the establishment of God's Kingdom among men, in the hands of our Lord Jesus and his selected joint-heirs, the overcomers of the Gospel Church. This great event, toward which all of God's promises and types point, we now see to be not only at hand, but just upon us. None of those awake to these facts, and who properly or even partially realize them, and whose hearts are in full sympathy with God's great plan of the ages, and who see that God's panacea for the sin and misery and dying of the groaning creation is to be applied by this Kingdom, can possibly feel other than an absorbing interest in the fact, the time and the manner of its establishment.     CLASSES OF MEN INTERESTED IN IT   All who trust implicitly for the fulfilment of the prayer our Lord himself taught us to offer – "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is done in heaven" – must feel the liveliest interest in the fulfilment of their request, if they prayed from the heart – in spirit and in truth. ETERNAL WISDOM IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made." John 1:1-3     The name the Word (gr. Logos) does not relate to our Lord personal nature, but his office. He was the Word as the spiritual being in his pre-human existence, when He was the Great Prince, Michael the archangel (Michael means: Who as God). Jude 9; Dan. 12:1.     "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us" John 1:14     The One, who was the Word, spoke words put in his mouth by the Father (Deut. 18:18). They were the words of life, hence He also is named the Word of Life (John 12:49; 1 John 1:1). This Word was rejected by the Israeli nation except few Israelites indeed. When the Lord resurrected, he received the higher nature from the one, which he possessed before he became the man. "ALL THINGS MUST NEEDS BE FULFILLED, WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN THE LAW OF MOSES, AND THE PROPHETS, AND THE PSALMS, CONCERNING ME" Luke 24:44     Since the second century of the pre-Christian era the Jews divided their holy books on three parts: (1) Moses' law (Torah), (2) prophets (Nebiim), (3) other books (Ketubim). From this third part, Jesus put Psalms first, in which there are numerous mentions about his torments. The Lord Jesus expressed words quoted on the title after his resurrection, when He appeared eleventh time to his disciples. The following considerations will be devoted special words from the David's psalm, which our Lord with the great voice expressed on the cross just before his decease:     "Into thy hands I commend my spirit" Ps. 31:6; Luke 23:46     "This was the prophetic declaration of our Lord Jesus' dying words.
